Purpose of This Role

Reporting to the Head of FP&A - UK, this role will Business Partner with our Senior Leaders to bridge the gap between finance and operations enabling improved data driven decision making. We expect the role to share  financial acumen and tell compelling, data-driven stories to spur action. This will aid us to maximizing profitability and financial health by controlling costs, increasing revenue and having full commercial awareness of all active projects. There will also be plenty of opportunities to get involved with strategically important UK wide initiatives.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Analyse market trends and opportunities for business efficiencies
  • Provide commercial input into business planning and decision-making
  • Supporting the business with strategically important FP&A initiatives

Financial Oversight

  • Prepare yearly revenue budget and monitor monthly forecast e.g. sales and inflight projects
  • Audit and validate project budgets, forecasts and financial plans to ensure projects are financially viable and profitable
  • Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision making
  • Provide insight in to commercial KPIs having tracked, reviewed and challenged them on a regular basis with relevant stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate financial and commercial perspectives to decision makers using visuals and storytelling techniques.

Cost Control and Efficiencies

  • During the budgeting process, engage in budget pressure-testing to ensure stakeholders understand potential risks and constraints.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities and assist in planning cost-reduction strategies including external costs.
  • Help stakeholders create business cases, outlining their benefits, costs, and risks, and provide recommendations to secure adequate funding and approval.
  • Drive operational efficiency by implementing cost control measures and improving financial processes through automation and standardizing reporting.

Stakeholder and Risk Management

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand their financial needs and challenges, enabling them to meet and surpass performance goals through data led decision making.
  • Monitor leading indicators to identify delivery risks and operational performance gaps, driving action or providing alternative approaches.
  • Assist with identifying, assessing, and mitigating commercial risks associated with contracts, projects, and business operations.
  • Work with colleagues across all teams to provide accurate and timely information.

It is expected that there will also be ad hoc projects and requirements for analysis and insights and other business partnering activities across HSO-UK

Essential Experience

  • Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Proven history of building and maintaining strong relationships with business unit leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Understanding of business operations.
  • Advanced experience with quantitative and qualitative data sources in excel, Finance systems and Power BI.
  • Able to flex communication skills for a positive interaction and deliver challenging messages to colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving practical solutions to complex challenges
  • Understanding of Microsoft technologies and systems
  • Experience in project based organisations would be beneficial

Reporting to

Head of FP&A, UK

Location
This is a hybrid role, ideally based within a one hour commute of either our Reading or Manchester office, however, strong candidates from outside of this distance will be considered.  Regular, planned travel which will involve overnight stays near our offices, plus other UK locations for meetings, events and training.
