County Governments Can Do Amazing Things for Their Citizens—and Win Multiple Awards—with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance

As a long-time implementer of technology solutions including government ERP systems, we are always pleased when our clients are successful, of course. But when their achievements earn them attention and accolades, we’re like proud parents and want to share the news. This happens every now and then, and we’re pleased that it has happened this time with a government client, McHenry County, Illinois.

One of the largest counties in the state, the government of McHenry County has 1,200 employees in 28 offices and departments supporting more than 300,000 citizens. This year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded McHenry County with a Triple Crown medallion for winning all three annual awards granted by the association in one year. This is the first year the Association awarded this distinction, and McHenry was one of only 292 governments nationwide to receive it.

The three awards – Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial Report, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award – were based on the transparency, approach, and completeness of the financial documents the county produces. The budget award is given to governments whose actual budget documents meet or exceed all criteria set forth by GFOA.

While this year is the first McHenry has received the Triple Crown, the county has won all three of the qualifying awards on at least six occasions in recent years. In addition, Moody’s Investors Service assigned McHenry County government its top AAA bond rating for the 11th straight year. McHenry is one of only three county governments in Illinois and only 107 nationwide to have the top rating.
