Best practice: architecture of a modern data platform
Challenges
In Forbes' research into data-driven work, 98% of participating companies indicated that their data and analytics
programme is of strategic importance. However, only 41% of the participants think that their programme is effective. In practice, we see that companies are struggling with a number of challenges:
- There is insufficient focus on data and data quality.
- Data is still collected and maintained in different places; which leads to extra work, errors, and delays.
- There are not enough clear agreements or definitions: for example, one team may use a different source or definition of margin and turnover than another team.
A clear vision of the importance of data in the company, a roadmap and the resulting data platform architecture are therefore indispensable if you really want to work in a data-driven manner.
