Sir Mike Gregory

Former Head at Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge

Following an early career in industry Mike Gregory was the was the founder member of the team which established the IfM in 1998. Linking science, engineering, management and policy and integrating education, research and practice the IfM now has over 230 staff and research students and a further 100 undergraduate and Masters students.

He retired as Head of the Manufacturing and Management Division of the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering and of the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) in 2015.

Mike Gregory’s work is closely linked with industry and government and he has published in the areas of manufacturing strategy, technology management, international manufacturing and manufacturing policy.

Clare Porter

Head of Manufacturing at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

Clare leads cross cutting manufacturing policy and delivery for the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy. Priorities include developing the UK’s position as a leader of the 4th Industrial Revolution through the Made Smarter programme; Strengthening UK Supply Chain and Value Chain Capability and progressing international engagement on advanced manufacturing policy to identify opportunities for collaboration.

Made Smarter is the UK’s industrial digitalisation programme with the aim of increasing manufacturing productivity, especially for small and medium size companies, through the development and adoption of industrial digital technology. Clare worked with industry to produce the Made Smarter Review, published in 2017 and leads work for the department on how to deliver its ambitions through government policy.

Clare’s team works with a range of stakeholders including industry, trade bodies, technology institutions, local partners and academics to ensure that government policy meets business need.

Clare started working in BEIS in 2011 and before she was Head of Manufacturing, she led on Growth Deal policy; worked on the Heseltine Review and with LEPs. Clare joined the civil service in 2002 and has worked across a number of government departments and policy areas including counter terrorism, community cohesion, 2012 Olympics and UK drug policy.

Luca Mazzocco

Head of Technical Partnerships and On-site Experience at Renault F1

Luca joined the team in 1996 to work as an interpreter for Giancarlo Fisichella and, after an interesting year of insights into the work of a racing driver, he moved on to help the Communications Department manage relationships with Italian media. Since1998, Luca has been helping a number of team partners integrate their entitlements into PR and Marketing plans and gained activation experience across a wide variety of industries.

In his free time, Luca enjoys photography and mountain biking.

Henry Anson

Managing Director at The Manufacturer

Henry Anson is Managing Director of Hennik Research, publishers of The Manufacturer magazine. Henry has 25 years experience in publishing and events having established Ark Group (Asia) pte and Ark Group Inc in 1994. Henry is the Founder of the Manufacturer Thought Leadership Networks Services and passionate about manufacturing.

Henry is responsible for Hennik Research’s commercial activities, developing new concepts and products for The Manufacturer’s readership. He has vast international experience having set up offices across the globe and is keen to build a bridge between the manufacturing community and the service sector that supports it.
